Wimbledon Park Golf club PGA Golf Professional
Large Gordon's win, just the tonic
Biggest win in the clubs history
Last Friday evening the club held the 9 hole master of masters, champion of championships, open tournament classic event.
With no wind the course was extremely confusing and therefore really challenging. To win this event everyone was saying that the cream should rise to the top and that's what happened, with just 2 4s and 7 3s over 9 holes the winners were; Elise Gordon, Paul Gordon, Harry Snell and Dean Wingrove PGA professional.
Some members suggested that the team had a massive advantage having such a brilliant golfer with Dean Wingrove playing with them.
One member was quoted "Dean Wingrove is so good, it's really hard to believe that he is available to teach and run a really completive shop and who can get you everything you want when you want... Whilst playing at such a high level."
Such a lovely evening was had by all. The fish and chips was fantastic, the service was brilliant. Thank you to everyone who played in this event.
Congratulations to Elaine & Tony Halligan on winning last Sunday's Mixed Foursomes married couples with 37 points, and Hayley Barlow & Ken Orriss on winning the 'just good friend's side' of the event with a fantastic 42 points.
Peter pipped again!
Well done Ian Morris on winning last Saturday's Medal with a fine 65 nett beating our Chairman Peter Mutton by a single shot.
Only 2 more slots are left for this Saturday's Gentlemen's Invitation. Come along a have a great day with us.
Gentlemen, just a reminder that the entries for the winter knockouts are in the Professional Shop. Please support the Captains Charity day. All for a fantastic cause, Sunday, 9 October.
Drive for show, putt for dough?
This is one of golf's great debates: given the choice, what would you rather be - a great putter or a great driver?
Without wishing to influence your vote - and you can vote below on our website - we'd take a guess that most of you would go with the former; that if you are a confident putter and better than most, your scores will be far greater.
Others may say you could be the best putter in the world, but it counts for nothing if you're chipping out sideways from the fairway rough all day long - therefore accuracy and length off the tee would be preferable.
There's no right or wrong answer, of course, although how good does it feel when you bomb one off the tee? Actually, it feels pretty good when you hole back-to-back 30-foot birdie putts, too.
Vote on what you'd rather be, we'd be interested to know.
Motocaddy in control
