What have Henrik Stenson and Robin Cole got in common?
They are both Open Champions! Henrik has been working with Pete Cowen and Robin has been working with Dean Wingrove. Pete must be looking forward to his commission….. Robin….?
It's hard to believe that Henrik had two three putts in his last round, and if he were playing Stableford he still would have had 44 points (bandit!).
Robin had a wonderful 39 points to win on Open Sunday, congratulations.
With an emotional voice, Tom Kearns says, 'Caroline Nettel, wins The Summer Trophy with 35 points'. They have both been working hard on Caroline's game. How wonderful for both to see the success paying off.
President's day Champions, Alex Conroy & Maria Diegan had a wonderful day on winning their respective divisions. David Edmonds & Caroline Nettel were extremely generous with the prizes and a wonderful day was had by all.
I would like to say a big thank you to Dean Jeeves & Tom Kearns who ran the day on behalf of the pro shop. One of the best days of the year so far, so well done all.
Never afraid to getting his hands dirty, David Langheim is working so hard to get his baby back in good shape for us.
David, I know this year has been a complete nightmare for you, but we are all behind you and we know how hard you and your team are working.
Life begins at 50
We hear a lot about this new generation of young golfers who spend as much time in the gym as they do on the course; the guys who bomb it a mile and reduce 7,500 yard courses to pitch and putt.
Now, we're not saying Paul Broadhurst doesn't go to the gym and we're not suggesting he's short off the tee by any means, but the 50-year-old thoroughly deserved his moment in the spotlight this weekend and it reminded us of one of the reasons we love golf so much - age is just a number!
'Broady' produced a flawless final round at Carnoustie to claim a two-shot victory at the Senior Open Championship, a fine way to celebrate his debut in the event. The high-class field contained names - the likes of Tom Watson (66), Bernhard Langer (58) and Ian Woosnam (58) - who would have made Broadhurst feel quite the whippersnapper, as we were treated to a weekend of high drama courtesy of some of the game's biggest names from yesteryear.
This week sees the final Major of the season get underway at Baltusrol in Springfield, N.J., the drama keeps on coming! Whatever happens, you probably won't see a better final-day performance than Broady's four-under 68, quite some performance at Carnoustie we must say, check out the highlights if you missed the action.
