Indoor Putting Championship

Over 30 members took part in our very own indoor putting championship on Wednesday evening. Before the competition I gave a quick putting clinic, which was probably just as well as the 9 hole course was very difficult as the carpet was Augusta quick!!

The food was fantastic, and so much fun was had by all. As Robbie Williams was blasting out Angels, our very own Stuart Coop came in with an incredible score of 15 to win a nice bottle of bubbly.

Thank you to everyone who came and supported this event and the feeling around the room is that we should defintely do it again, so here's to the next time.

Thought of the week

From time to time we like to share some coaching tips through our newsletters in an effort to help you lower your scores. This week you'll see we're offering some advice on how to effectively escape wet sand - which is somewhat topical, unfortunately.

Being able to adjust to the wintry conditions is a real skill, whether that's playing the ball a little further back in your stance to keep the ball underneath the wind, or adjusting your technique to escape wet sand (below) - so we hope you find these articles useful.

Of course, some one-on-one coaching may be what you need, as we appreciate that putting these tips into practice isn't always that easy, even if they make perfect sense.

We hope you're enjoying your golf no matter what the weather is throwing at you, but do come and see us, or make an enquiry here, if you'd like some assistance. In the meantime, give the tip below a try and next time you end up bunkered in the wet sand, you might not get such a sinking feeling.

MOT your game

FREE grip & re-grip on your 7-iron

Playing with worn and shiny grips makes it difficult to produce a fluid and reliable swing - which leads to mishits and inconsistent ball-striking. Come and collect your FREE Golf Pride grip in store and we’ll re-grip your favourite iron. You’ll feel the difference immediately.
